"Farm Futures" website reports on lawsuit against Monsanto brought by organic growers
With the headline, "Organic Growers Attack Monsanto" Farm Futures, a website subtitled "business and marketing tools for profitable farming," ran a story posted on February 06, 2012 at 5:00 AM that announced the recent (January 31, 2012)hearing on GMO's held in United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
It's not hype when the article claims, "This court is the setting for a major legal battle which will impact all grain farmers in the United States."
Some of the issues that may be brought up could include the following:
Are Monsanto's patents for genetically modified seed legal and proper under patent law?
Has Monsanto been guilty of persecuting farmers whose crops have been inadvertently cross-pollinated by Monsanto's GM plants?
Are GM foods putting non-GM crops at risk through cross-pollination?
Does Monsanto have a responsibility to prevent the spread of GM seed into the wild?
Is Monsanto deliberately introducing GM seed with the hope that it will cross pollinate?
Already, alternative health care professionals are taking notice. Once grassroots organization, "Medicine Crow", has posted an interview on the lawsuit.
Many Hands has already set up email alerts to follow the progress of this case, and we'll be reporting the story here at www.manyhands.com
